Great Green Idea: Green Cleaning: 5 Easy Ways to Clean Greener

5 Easy Ways to Clean Greener

All those horrible chemical bleaches, disinfectants and degreasing agents you buy are NOT green, biodegradable or good for the environment, but they do clean; basically the job you bought them to do.

However there are many ways of cleaning green, without compromising the environment, while at the same time helping your conscience; and all of the solutions available are natural, non-toxic and totally biodegradable.

How do you think people were able to clean clothes or plates, furniture and upholstery before the advent of mass produced, chemical abrasive and corrosive cleaning agents?

With a little searching around, and a little education from here, you can be well on the road to personal home environment, and a green clean right through the house.

I am going to give you five suggestions for a greener cleaning around the home, using basic biodegradable items that you probably already have sitting around your home now, and all of them probably in the kitchen. There is no need to buy the non biodegradable bleaches, disinfectants or degreasing agents.

1. Having difficulty getting those yeuchy and pongy sweat stains out of clothing (obviously a man's clothes, us girls only perspire mildly) then to save on buying one of those exorbitantly expensive stain removing gels, just mix salt into a bowl of warm water, about 2 tablespoons, and leave the offending articles to soak overnight.

2. Difficult to remove stains in the toilet bowl or in the sink (we all have them, don't worry) then add two cups of borax into the toilet bowl, brush around the bowl and leave overnight, and flush away in the morning. A non-toxic, ecological and environment friendly answer to those corrosive bleaches one has been using.

3. Got a buildup of lime scale around the taps, shower head and in the bath, sink and toilet bowl. A superb, non abrasive, non-toxic answer to your problem is vinegar. Yes, vinegar. Mix vinegar and water together, place into a trigger container, and spray onto the affected area and watch the lime scale start to break down. And of course, the more lime scale, the more vinegar in the solution. And it disinfects as well. Two in one.

4. Spilt coffee onto that nice white dress or shirt. Shame on you. But don't worry, 1 teaspoon of vinegar into two pints of water and wipe onto the stain with a soft, white cloth. This will start to break down the bonding, and once completed, put the garment into soak for an hour or so before washing.

5. Baking soda and water, mixed into a paste will clean any gunk you have allowed to build up inside the oven. Rub on in small, round circular motions, leave for a short while and wipe off with a damp cloth. Sparkly, shiny oven comes back into the fold.

All of the above suggestions are those that work for many people. You will save money and time, and you will be doing your bit fort the environment by using non-toxic, biodegradable materials that are environment friendly.

Once you get on the green cleaning trail, you won't want to stop. There are many more solutions to modern cleaning using biodegradable, eco friendly items. You just need to research a little, and while you are doing that, have a coffee and think of the money you can save over time.
