Great Green Idea: Green Eating: Eating Green and Eating Clean

Eating Green and Eating Clean

Consistently eating green can be combined with eating clean to maintain a healthier lifestyle. Eating clean prevents disease, improves existing medical conditions and aids in weight loss. This way of life does take planning and discipline; however. There must be a true commitment to continue to do what is required, including changing cooking and eating habits. Each individual has to decide whether this effort is worth going through. The decision would most likely be based upon on what is the motivation behind considering eating green in the first place.

In today's environmentally concerned climate, phrases like green cuisine, eco-friendly and sustainability have become part of everyday language. Millions of people world wide have made major changes in how they spend their money, travel and decorate their homes. Those who have changed the way they eat practice clean eating habits on a daily basis. Basically, the practice of clean eating includes cooking with whole foods in as natural a state as possible. Fruits and vegetables, complex carbohydrates and lean proteins make up a clean eating diet. As with any lifestyle change, there is the challenge of letting go of normal practices in order to achieve the desired goal.

To get the best benefits from eating clean, refined sugar and trans-fat must be eliminated from the diet. Most highly processed food, especially fast food, is not allowed in a clean eating regimen. In addition, it significantly limits alcoholic beverage consumption. At issue is whether it is even possible for the average person to overcome years of poor eating habits. To some extent, making these changes actually means overcoming additions which can prove quite difficult. Yet, countless people have daily success doing just that in the course of eating green.

Clean eating requires consuming several small meals a day rather than a couple larger ones. For some, this may mean making adjustments in their daily schedule to accommodate this requirement. A basic rule of thumb for eating clean is that any food which is not man made can be considered. Preparing and then cooking most meals takes time and planning. Keeping foods on hand that support the new way of eating makes this part of the process easier. Even when dining out careful food choices must be made. This is easier than it once was since an increased number of restaurants offer green cuisine on their menus. Water is an essential part of a clean eating diet and must be consumed several times daily to help cleanse the system.

Despite these adjustments, this is good news to people if good health is the motivation behind considering these changes. It is a proven fact that eating green has been successful in the prevention and treatment of several medical conditions and diseases. Clean eating actually builds healthy cells in the body by supplying needed nutrients that promote healing and well being. Weight loss is common among most people who follow this eating regimen. For some, this is the reason for changing their eating habits. It is possible to combine saving the planet with maintaining good health. The millions of people who successfully live the green life are living proof of that fact.
