Green Cars: Oxymoron of the Road?

Green cars are one of the most enticing areas where you can make a major difference in the way that you affect the environment. You will begin to see that these particular vehicles are going to allow you to travel the way that you always have before but instead of being as terrible for the environment as cars of old, these new green cars will have a lessened impact on the health of the planet. One has to stop and wonder, however, whether the term "green cars" is something of an oxymoron, however. How environmentally friendly can these cars actually be?

The answer will depend on the type of green car which you actually look into. There are a few different classes of green vehicles, with some of them being even more environmentally friendly than others. Knowing this, you will want to look into the various green car choices which may be suitable for you. While some of these cars are going to help you save on your gasoline consumption, others will not even require this resource to run. How much of an oxymoron your car actually is will depend on the choice which you end up making when you make a purchase.

One particular type of green car which is perhaps the most environmentally friendly choice comes in the form of the electric car. This particular vehicle features a rechargeable battery and can operate for long spans on time without using any type of gasoline. You will find that this car has a range of around 250 miles, depending on the make and the model. When you use this car, you can travel for long stretches of time without having to worry about putting gas in your car. It will simply require short recharging times before you are able to drive the car once more.

Another type of green car which is perhaps one of the most popular options is the hybrid. This particular car will run on a combination of gasoline and electricity. The car boasts mileage of up to 45 miles a gallon, which is a great advancement over the gasoline consumption in cars of the past. The fact that the car still requires gasoline to function, however, does make it a bit of an oxymoron when it comes to the topic of green cars. Knowing this can help you to make the best possible choice when the time comes for you to purchase a green vehicle.

There are other types of green vehicles available, although they are not very popular yet. These can include the three-wheeled vehicles, which require less gas and get very good mileage, as well as hydrogen powered vehicles. The biggest problem with these choices as green cars, however, come in the fact that the three-wheeled cars are small and they have an unappealing design.

The hydrogen cars will only become good choices when they are popular and fuel can be found regularly. Until this happens, however, these green cars are a bit of an oxymoron themselves, for they will take more to produce than is worth the trouble.
