Green Living: Reducing Stress in a Fast Paced World

Reducing stress in a fast paced world is very important to stay healthy and vibrant. Living in a world that is advancing in many ways can bring stressors on a regular basis. Keeping a positive focus and taking time to relax are essential.

Staying Positive

It is so easy to get caught up in the frustrations of meeting deadlines, keeping appointments and taking care of the family. If a family has several children, there are usually several other schedules to add to the family calendar. In working through our day to day lives, staying positive will help ward off unneeded stress. Keeping a positive frame of mind will help keep emotional and mental stability in one's life.

Take Time to Relax

In our busy lives we must take some time to rest and relax. This allows our bodies to catch up and recuperate. If time is not taken our bodies can become stuck in high gear and create health issues such as higher blood pressure, headaches as well as bowel issues and confusion. Other health challenges include mental melt downs, higher glucose levels and emotional overload. Schedule a time to relax with family or alone if need be.

Priorities

Setting priorities are necessary in every part of life. Priorities are set in the work place by projects that need to be completed. Priorities need to be set with our family schedules as well to prevent overload. Parents can determine limits and allow children to choose one activity for the school year or prioritize in a way that is best for your family.

Exercise

Exercise can be a great stress reliever if done without pushing yourself to the point of excess. Taking time daily, even short periods of time, can help boost the morale. If you enjoy the outdoors and it calms the soul, plan to take a short walk one to two times each day. Over the period of a week, the time adds up. Walk with a friend if it is helpful.

Natural Stress Relief

Several methods of natural stress relief can take the edge off of a day's work schedule. Take time to sit quietly without interruption in a dimly lit rim. Perhaps, using candles can help to set the atmosphere. Learn and practice breathing exercises specifically for releasing stress from the body.

Another method of stress relief is receiving a massage, whether it is full body or partial body. Invest a little in your health if this is something you enjoy. Massage releases toxins from the body when followed by drinking plenty of water. When muscles are tense it is hard to truly allow the body to relax. In such a fast paced world, you are important and well worth a little luxury!
