What is green living without tips? You may have thought about "going green" for some time now. You just don't know where you would like to start. The following tips will make green living seem like a breeze.
Recycle, Recycle, RecycleThe obvious simple green living tip is to recycle. It cannot be emphasized enough. Recycling helps the earth in many ways. Make it a matter of priority to recycle whenever possible. Paper, plastic and aluminum are all recyclable items, as well as electronics like computers, printers, CD players and toys. You may also recycle envelopes, soda cans and soda can tabs, batteries, six-pack rings, old greeting cards, old eye glasses and videotapes. Contact your city hall to see where these different types of items can be recycled. Don't forget to buy recycled as well. You can buy recycled products from copy paper to clothes. The green will come back to you full circle.
Reused is the New, NewReusing is the next best thing to recycling. You never got rid of your plastic bags but you don't know what to do with them because they not recyclable. Instead of throwing them away, take them back to store and use them again until you cannot use them any more. You can also donate used books to your local library or bookstore. Forget the paper towels. Try using rags, towels or sponges to clean up spills and general cleaning. Save your takeout containers and wash them out for future use or to store leftovers in. Using rechargeable batteries reduces the hazardous waste emitted from general dead batteries. Donate older clothes that are in good condition and appliances to charities or second hand stores. Keep the cycle of reuse going around for a healthy planet.
Buy OrganicYou must eat and dress yourself and family, right? With just those two aspects of life in mind you can start living green. Look to replace your regular products, goods and groceries with their organic counterparts. Remember to look for the USDA Organic seal of approval. Try to buy produce and meats from local farmers, who are usually organic producers. Beef, fish and poultry can all be purchased organic. Fruits and vegetables like peaches, strawberries, apples, spinach, nectarines, celery, pears, cherries, potatoes, bell peppers, raspberries and imported grapes are best bought organic. There are a variety of organic clothes available on the market. Organic cotton is probably the most reasonable to purchase.
A Greener YouOther ways for you to transition to greener life is to take your car to a carwash that uses recycled water. Pour leftover ice from drinks into potted plants. Shave shower time by one or two minutes. You'll save gallons of water each month. Count down on waste by using reusable coffee cups, water bottles and razors. Embrace your new green life in these simple ways.
