Stock your Home with Potted Plants and Support the Environment

Many people do not have space to create a luscious green garden in their yard. They live in flats or duplex townhouses that do not provide them the luxury of nurturing nature. There is an option that can be used to inspire them. Potted plants can brighten up a space and help with making the living space healthier. It acts as a natural air freshener.

Research indicates that some houseplants prevent serious pollution problems indoors. Everybody knows that plants releases oxygen and absorbs carbon dioxide which is called the photosynthetic process. Scientists recently discovered that not only do the plants release oxygen they also absorb formaldehyde, benzene and trichloroethylene.

Each plant absorbs at different degrees but they all get rid of polluted air in homes. The only air pollution they are not able to resolve is that of tobacco smoke. Many new houses interior design consists of synthetic fabrics, carpets and plastic wallpaper and they all pollute the air with off-gas. Plants can bring reduce the pollution to create an eco friendly home. A popular plant that you can place in your home is the Aloe Vera plant. Not only does it help with polluted air it also can be used for medicinal purposes. Other plants that are also beneficial are Snake plant, Bamboo palm, Weeping fig, Chinese evergreen and English ivy.

The research also showed that soil also plays an important factor when it comes to reducing the pollutant air. When the plants grow in the pot the soil uses the polluted air as a food source. To make the soil work effectively you must remove the leaves at the bottom of the plant to ensure that the soil is in contact with the air.

Focus was done mainly on all year round houseplants. Every year there is new information regarding how beneficial household plants are. If you do not know anything about potted plants visit your local nursery to help you find the correct plants. Leave it to the professionals to give you advice and guidance. Read up and use the Internet to search for additional information regarding the different types of plants and how to maintain them. Also make sure when planting them in the pots they are fertilized with organic fertilizer. Use non-toxic insect spray to prevent the plants from fungi and pests.

You will be supporting your health and the environment if you start adding pot plants to your living space. You do not need to overdo the interior decorating. Place the plants in strategic areas for example the toilet, bathroom, kitchen etc. Invest in a houseplant today and experience nature on your doorstep.
