Alternative Energy Sources

Hello I'm, Gerard Wulfers. One afternoon while sitting in my room at Cheshire Homes, Gauteng, as I was thinking of the Green Conference (COP 17) in Durban I felt as though God was speaking to me, reminding me that this planet of ours is in deep trouble and that I must act upon an insight that He gave me 40 years ago when I was 14 and still at school. The memories came back to me as clearly as daylight.

My dad passed on in 1994, but only now do I feel the urgency to pass on an insight he shared all those years ago. Little did I know at that time the impact that the Greenhouse Effect would have on our planet. Nor was I aware that despite my physical disability and speech impediment, that God would bestow such honour on me, sharing through me a simple way of making a better place of this crumbling earth that we all love so much.

My parents owned a plant nursery and that interest rubbed off on me. I can remember 40 years ago how my dad and I took a stroll through the nursery, and I can clearly recall his commenting that he knew how to produce clean hot water cheaply and easily. The solution he shared involves cow manure and bacteria.

The nursery brought in lorry loads of manure from the abattoir. Because it was delivered in big chunks we decided put it all through a chopping machine to get a lovely fine product suitable for gardening. The heap reached nearly 3 metres in height. One day dad stuck a metal rod in the heap, and a little while later, when he pulled it out, it was very, very hot! The reason had to do with the interaction between the manure and bacteria. In the process much energy is released in the form of heat. Consequently water could be heated if piped through the manure heap!

I put that idea on the back burner because the trouble our planet is now in was not at all evident back then. The concept is foundational and can surely, with all the modern technology at our disposal be adapted to harvest the energy generated by bacteria.

The reason for chopping the manure into the smallest particles is to minimise excess air coming between the particles and the manure has to be kept moist to assist with the decaying process. Cow manure and bacteria is natural, safe and efficient energy source. The beauty of the concept is that it never stops generating heat-energy … night and day, summer, winter, day in and day out so it even has an advantage over solar energy. The process is natural and non-toxic. It could play a significant part in preventing depletion of the ozone layer … even giving the ozone layer time to recover as more and more ways are used to harvest this God-given natural energy source.

We serve a truly Holy, Almighty, Living God of huge creative wisdom, and I feel He has brought these early memories to mind … and assisted me in writing down the concept … at a time when a safe and clean, renewable energy source is so badly needed. I believe this one sovereign God, the Lord Jesus Christ, has, in His mercy given us all a new lease on life if we take and develop this natural energy concept.

Personally, I feel content having shared the thoughts I believe were prompted by the Lord Jesus Christ and I’m delighted that this is proof for me that God always His solutions works though people.

Now we can put our hopes on a brighter future. So let's give a new start to the earth we all love so much.

Yours sincerely,
Gerard Wulfers
