Create jobs building affordable solar electric panels in the USA

The private sector should partner with the Federal Government using low interest Fed loans to build huge Electric Solar Panel Factories in the USA. We could REALLY mass produce electric solar panels inexpensively (just like Henry Ford did) through mass production and robotics to enabling us to be competitive cost wise with the Chinese, while producing a superior product. Clean energy jobs would be created, plus construction jobs to build the factories.

To minimize objections from the gas and coal producing states, factories could be located in those states to offset any job losses. Those states benefit from higher paying clean, GREEN, jobs and more taxes revenew. Other companies like architectural firms, consultants , R&D, sales and support can go in other parts of the country to spread the jobs around.

HOW IT WORKS:
Existing Solar companies and University research facilities would be asked to submit proposals. The ones with the best current technology win contracts to produce electric solar panels here in the USA.

The money to fund the loans would come from the subsidies currently paid to Big Oil Companies. Or if Oil Companies don’t like that idea, they could jump in and offer their own low interest loans, making profits on the back-end, getting into the future technology to diversify and get tons of good PR.

The Solar companies would sell their panels to American utility companies and foreign markets, making a profit and paying back the loans.

Utility Companies would purchase these inexpensive panels. They would offer them for free or at a nominal cost, just like Cable Companies do cable boxes, to consumers. Utility companies would make their money by charging consumers their normal monthly kilowatt rate. The WHOLE COUNTRY CAN GO GREEN without the purchase price being prohibitive. Consumers would pay what they pay now, but without future rate increases as fuel costs will continue to rise and maybe even pay lower utility bills as the technology becomes more efficient. Plus, they would feel good about doing something great for the environment without it costing anything more than what they currently pay. The Utilities get a stable energy source without volatile energy price spike and they make lots of $$$ because they pay less in fuel costs for coal and gas and don’t have to build and maintain expensive nuclear power plants.


The Utility companies can install, maintain and meter the panels themselves or use a third party contractor, creating more American jobs, locally.

The Government or the Oil industry, if they choose to invest, would be paid back at little or no risk because there would be such a HUGE demand for these panels. Just imagine if anyone could get solar panel in the US for next to nothing. Millions and millions of Americans would be paying electric utility companies what they pay monthly anyway, but for clean abundant GREEN energy. And the Utility companies make money and pay the Solar Companies who make money and pay the loans, with interest to the government or investors.

Imagine the number of high paying, long term job that would be created and the revenue stream from putting solar panels on every building in American and for decades, bill consumers for electricity that costs almost nothing to produce.

AND YES, WE CAN DO IT NOW. The technology already exists. It just needs to be done in a large enough scale and in an efficient ways for the cost to come down. In time, the technology will even get better reducing our need for fossil fuel.
