Recently, it was reported by the folks at Memeburn that Google will be investing close to US$100 million, in what will be the world’s largest wind farm. From this it looks as if energy distribution, infrastructure and efficiency will not be limited to just companies in the energy and energy distribution sector. CEES has already discussed how smart grid technology helps in energy distribution, infrastructure and efficiency.

We think, developments like this are going to change the landscape and the playing field in the energy industry as more and more organizations will move not only towards energy efficiency but also towards cleaner, greener, effective and efficient sources of energy, vastly because there is a huge demand for it! Organizations in the near future might lean towards buying and selling energy (of all forms) after getting a grant from their respective governments. This would be a good option for organizations, which are looking into cutting down their carbon footprints, and using these green credits (by generating green and clean energy) to help offset their carbon emissions.

Most of the nations today are focusing on green and renewable energy along with the conventional sources of energy. There has been a steady rise in investments by governments in the field of renewable energy (both clean and green energy). This will create a huge demand for professionals who have the knowledge – both theoretical and practical of the energy industry.

The technology used for generating energy is more or less the same across various countries. This might encourage nations to collaborate with one another to reduce the costs of energy generation and meet the international agreements. Numerous governments and private firms are cooperating to develop a model of sustainable communities around the world!
